January Meebox Galentines- Unboxing & Review

Hello my lovely readers, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I am so sorry for the lack of post last Friday unfortunately, both Lexi and myself were struggling against a nasty bug. So the last thing on my mind was doing my nails however, I have a lovely Meebox unboxing for you all today. This month's theme was Galentines, that special day before Valentines Day were us ladies celebrate our friendships. So let's jump in and take a look!

This month's box included not three but four polishes, the idea is that you give the fourth polish to your best gal pal as a Galentines pressie. I swapped mine with my nail bestie Becca from A certain Becca Nails, she also gets Meebox so we just did a swap of the polishes. We were also treated to two nail treatment creams. So let's take a look at the swatches.

First up is Models Own Chrome Rose, this a rose-toned gold metallic polish, As with a lot of metallics, the formula on this one was quite streaky. It does get opaque in just one coat and the best way to apply this polish is the three stroke method so you are not manipulating the polish too much. I have heard this is a fantastic polish to stamp with as it is very opaque.

Chrome Rose is available on the Models Own and Superdrug website for £4.99

The second polish is from Nails Inc called Hyde Park Place, this is a light grey creme fully opaque in 2 coats. It applied to the nail smoothly and levelled out quite well, I am not normally a grey lover but the colour has been growing on me this winter.

Hyde Park Place is available on Tesco Direct for £3.99

The first polish from the Best Friends duo is called Friends, this is from NCLA. It is a bright red creme, fully opaque in 2 coats. The formula on this one was quite thick so did not spread as easily as I would have liked. I also experienced a bit of staining around my cuticles when removed. This is definitely that classic Valentines Day red. I totally forgot to take a macro of this one, I am blaming lack of sleep and lots of medication.

The second polish in this duo and the one that is for your favourite gal pal is Forever. This is a glitter topper, it has a slightly tinted red jelly base with silver holographic glitters and red heart glitters. For my swatch I did one coat over Hyde Park Place. This is quite a base heavy polish and you will need to do some fishing for those heart glitters. I think this might look really pretty over a black or white base. You can purchase this duo from the NCLA website for £23.33 ($29)

One of the treatments we received in our box is some polishing hand scrub from Lauren B Beauty. This is for when you have removed your polish and you want to give your hands and cuticles a deep clean, it is great for removing dead skin and keeping your hands smooth and soft. I will definitely be trying this in my nail care rountine. This can be purchased from Lauren B Beauty for £16.03 ($20).

The last item in our Galentines box was this sample size butter from Cuccio, mine is in the scent white limetta & aloe vera. I really like how this feels on the skin and it can be used for hands, feet and body. The full-size 8onz costs 7.95 from Nail Polish Direct.

I did really like the nail treatments in this box and think I will probably add them into my routine, however the nail polishes this month were a slight let down for me. I think it is probably just because these are not my favourite colours to wear. Price wise this box was a major bargain in total the products came to £48.34, I only spent £20 to receive the box so it was definitely a massive saving.

For those of you who don't know Meebox is a monthly subscription service that is run here in the UK, you can sign up to a month by month for £20. I will leave the links to the website and their social media down below.

I would love to know what you think of this box? Is it your cup of tea? As always have a fantastic nail day and I will chat to all you wonderful people again soon.

  2. I hadn't heard of Galentines before! I love the polishes but have to laugh that NCLA was in a box with Lauren B considering Lauren B stole a lot of the polish concepts from NCLA. Crazy small world.

  4. This box looks lovely and your swatches are beautiful. I'm glad you swapped the polish and managed to keep the heart glitter. I would totally fish those little hearts out & use them that way.

  10. I'm with you, I don't think this would be a very exciting box for me either, mostly because the colors are just not unique enough. My nails have a million ridges on them so I don't know if I could pull off that metallic. The nail treatments look great though, I think i would have been happy with those!
