Harley Quinn Nail Art

Hello, my lovely readers, I hope you have all had a great week. I had some good news for once so it has been a highly beneficial week for me. Today's post is a nail art look that I have been wanting to do for quite some time. For my birthday I was given a really cute Harley Quinn soft toy, my sweet cousin won it for me when she went on holiday. I knew the minute that I saw it, I wanted to try and do nails to match her. So let's jump in!

I used the jester outfit as my inspiration for the nail art I chose to do. So it is more inspired by the original comic book and cartoon version of Harley Quinn than the Suicide Squad movie.

For my base colour I used China Glaze Scarlet, this is a bright red polish, this formula felt more like a jelly than a creme. It was quite sheer, I did 3 coats in the swatch photo and it still wasn't completely opaque. It does look very squidgy on the nail and I think it might be great polish for a Jelly Sandwich.

To create the chequered look I used some sellotape to make a colour block look, I placed two pieces of tape down. One horizontally half way up the nail and one vertically, I then painted in the small square with Orly Liquid Vinyl. I repeated this method on all of my nails until they had the black and red chequered look.

For my ring nail I painted this with two coats of Orly Liquid Vinyl and then waited for it to be completely dry. I then used some Ejiubas nail vinyls in the shape of diamonds to create the iconic three diamond pattern always associated with the Harley Quinn character. To make sure that the red was opaque over the black I used Mundo De Unas Reddish, as this is a great stamping polish to use over black.

Overall I am really happy with the finished look, it resembled the toy my cousin gave me and I feel it definitely screams Harley Quinn. There are many different versions of Harley these days, there is the classic with the red and black jester suit. The Arkham series games with her sexy nurse's outfit and the Suicide Squad version with her pink and blue dip dyed hair and her Daddy's Lil monster top. No matter which version it is Harley is definitely my favourite character from the DC universe.

Let me know what you think of this cuddly toy inspired manicure? I would love to know your thoughts. As always have a great nail day and I will chat to you wonderful people again soon.
